Luton Anticoagulation Service

Person Sitting At A Table With A Cup Of Tea Next To A Clinician Holding A Bottle Of Medication On A Table With Medications

The anticoagulant clinic is led by the community nurses. This is an easily accessible service for the monitoring and dosing of patients taking oral anticoagulant medication.

The Anticoagulant Service currently delivers care to all patients under the care of a Luton GP.

Patients attend for a blood test to monitor their International Normalised Ratio (INR) result using a near patient testing device. Patients attend on a regular basis dependent on their previous INR results. At the clinic their dose of oral anticoagulant medication will be titrated if required to maximise its efficacy thereby reducing complications of bleeding or thrombo-embolic events.

We have 2 weekly anticoagulant clinics. The clinics will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30am to 10am.

We work from Luton Treatment Centre.
