The nurses’ referral route, which allows NHS provider 111 to book children directly into the service, has been highlighted as best practice. The pathway is to be included in a series of case studies on Same Day Emergency Care for its success in reducing the pressure on hospital emergency departments while strengthening urgent care in the community.
