Below are some of the resources suggested during post diagnosis support to children and young people and their parents/carers depending on the needs of the child/young person and advice and support parents request.

  • Information about Autism - A wide range of information about autism – from what autism is, to diagnosis, to socialising and relationships by the National Autistic Society (NAS)  
  • Telling your child about their diagnosis - A Guide for Parents and Carers - NAS
  • Post Diagnosis Support - A Guide for Parents and Carers - NAS
  • Stories from the Spectrum - Stories for older children/young people who are aware of their diagnosis,  and stories of others with a diagnosis.
  • Information about Autism - Ambitious About Autism, find out more about autism and access information relevant to different stages in autistic children and young people's lives - from early years and education to preparing for work.
  • Amazing Things Happen -  A You Tube video by Alexander Amelines about what is Autism.  This video is aimed at children without a diagnosis though some parents have found it helpful to show their child who has a diagnosis.

  • The Incredible 5 Point Scale - Developed to share information about the use of the 5-point scale and other systems to teach social and emotional concepts to individuals on the autism spectrum
  • Advice and Guidance-Behaviour - Knowing what causes distressed behaviour can help you to develop ways of dealing with it by the National Autistic Society
  • Behaviour - Autistic children and young people can exhibit different behaviours to others. On this link you will find information about what causes these behaviours and how you can support them by Ambitious about Autism
