N&D Paediatric Support

• Allergy & Intolerance

  • Mild-Moderate Non IgE mediated cow’s milk protein allergy (allergy confirmed with iMAP home challenge after 2-4 weeks)

  • Mild-Moderate Non IgE mediated food allergies (including over 1 year of age).

  IgE Mediated Cow’s milk protein allergy and multiple food allergies are managed within secondary care (Luton & Dunstable Hospital)

• Reflux

  • Colic or reflux with suspected non IgE mediated allergy

• Faltering Growth

  • The aim of dietetic care is to increase the nutrient density of the diet to support growth

  • The aim of dietetic care is to increase the nutrient density of the diet beyond that achieved through dietary choices if undernutrition is considered as the cause

• Nutrient Deficiency

  • Severe iron deficiency if confirmed in blood test

• Obesity

  Children with a BMI >99.6^th centile with:

  • Severe learning disabilities with an extremely limited diet (e.g. less than food groups or 5-10 foods accepted) at risk vitamin or mineral deficiency
  • Safeguarding concerns requiring individualised advice
  • Special educational needs attending special schools in Luton and South Bedfordshire.

• Fussy Eating or Behavioural Feeding Problems

  • Any infant/child on a severely restricted diet offered by a primary carer e.g. vegan diet

  • Extremely limited diet (e.g. less than 3 food groups or 5-10 foods accepted) including children with a diagnosis of autism

  • Selective eating with a diagnosed vitamin/mineral deficiency

  • Mild behavioural feeding problems with faltering growth, obesity or underweight
