Clinical audit and effectiveness

Clinical audit is an intrinsic part of the quality improvement cycle that involves measurement of the effectiveness of healthcare against agreed and proven standards for high-quality care. It identifies proximity to best practice and allows actions to be taken to bring practice in line with these standards to improve the quality of care and enhance positive outcomes in health.

Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust has a rich audit programme which encompasses the following aims:

  • Improving quality through audit monitoring

  • Measuring the impact actions have over a longer period and evaluating their effectiveness

  • Making sense of the learning and how this will influence patient safety

  • Encouraging diversity and visibility throughout the programme

  • Objectivity in assessment - the process not the person

  • Learning from audit which is a proactive step towards transparency and risk management

  • Curiosity is powerful, you won’t know unless you test and measure it!

Patient Experience
The staff are wonderful; the receptionists were polite and efficient, the nurses I have seen, were incredible.
