This award is an opportunity for patients, families, visitors, and Trust colleagues to say ‘thank you – you made a difference’ to a member of staff or a team for anything (however small!) that helped make their experience of our services better.

We're delighted to announce that our joint October ‘Shine a Light’ winners are: Donna Presland, tissue viability nurse and Dorota Kilmas, rapid response sister.

Donna was nominated by Michael McMahon for her exceptional input providing training and support to reduce cases of skin related incidents in a care home. Michael said "Donna has approached the issues with sensitivity, professionalism and a passion that has turned around a concern that may have had significant impact to the residents, staff and care home." 

Dorota was nominated by a Macmillan Cancer clinical nurse specialist for her incredible care and support for a cancer patient in need of pain control. She said: "I can't thank Dorota enough for the exceptional level of care and dedication that she displayed. The family wanted to make sure their appreciation was known, and they are immensely grateful for the professionalism and unwavering commitment exhibited by CCS staff."

Emma Hart and Harriet Jarvis - Speech and language therapists
Lauren McKeown-Tofts nominated Emma and Harriet, she said: "Harriet and Emma have been in their leadership roles less than a year, in this time they’ve been integral to the schools and settings projects and running the high needs project within the Norfolk and Waveney SLT service during a period of rapid change. Their hard work and dedication to support the service and meet the needs of children and families has helped to shape service delivery, inspire change, and promote confidence in the wider team."

Katy McCarthy - Assistant practitioner 
Katy was nominated by Bernadette Osterberg who said: "Katie is a joy to work with. She brings light to everyone in the office and is always there with a smile and a hug. She does incredible work for Nelsons Journey outside of work."

Tracey Hodge - Community nursery nurse
Melissa Grantham-Roberts nominated Tracey for her keenness to help at short notice and offer advice. Melissa said: "Tracey always makes herself available and has a wealth of knowledge. She is so caring for her colleagues and goes the extra mile for her families."

Sara Tanti - Health visitor/DTM
Natalie Visick nominated Sara for the way she had supported her through her SCPHN course. Alongside this support she was also recognised for the support to the entire team, stating: "Sara whole heartedly deserves to be recognised for all the support and the difference she makes to us all every day in our team and for the families she supports."

Mandy Phillips - Administrator Lead
Jackie Taylor nominated Mandy for her invaluable support to the admin team, helping to develop a new process and templates for the paediatricians, which in turn allows them to be more efficient. All of this has been done with great patience and humour. 

Children's community nursing team - The Poynt
Nicky Blackwood wanted to nominate the entire children's community nursing team for the outstanding care and support they recently gave to an 8 year old girl receiving palliative and end of life care at home. Nicky said: "They were all so supportive to the child family and myself both in managing patient cares and memory making in such a loving compassionate and caring manner. I feel privileged to work with such an amazing team."

Emma Sweetman - Community nursery nurse
Samina Akhtar nominated Emma for this award for her involvement in supporting work experience students in Luton this year. Samina said: "Emma's enthusiasm really shows in her work with work experience students, as well as the feedback received from the students and the college. Emma has shown an amazing example of building an interest for young people to become our future workforce."
