This award is an opportunity for patients, families, visitors and Trust colleagues to say ‘thank you – you made a difference’ to a member of staff or a team for anything (however small!) that helped make their experience of our services better.
Our February 2020 winner is:
Jane Whatling, Administrative Assistant, Norfolk School Age Immunisation Team
Margot Smith nominated Jane for being amazing during a very challenging school flu immunisation program. Margot said: “Jane has been amazing. She has contacted libraries around the county and arranged with them to host clinics in order to vaccinate as many children as possible. Since November, this has enabled us to vaccinate over 1000 children in clinics who have missed the vaccination in school. As well as liaising and arranging with the libraries, Jane has compiled clinic lists and checked each child's vaccination record prior to the nurses seeing them, reported to GPs the children we have seen and completed spreadsheets for PHE to ensure all records are up to date.
“On top of the huge unpredictable clinic workload (which is far bigger than expected this year), she has continued to complete her regular school preparation and reporting and to top it all, moved house in the middle of flu season! We are so grateful for all she has achieved through her hard work and are amazed that she has managed to keep her sense of humour intact.”
Well done Jane!
Other nominations this month included:
Agne Storpirstyte, Senior Administrator, DynamicHealth - Peterborough
Agne was nominated by Anna Wyatt after the road outside Rivergate had a burst water main blocking the road and back filling traffic. Agne was the first who reached the RG site with another colleague, opened the office, assessed the flooding situation, updated the team via photos in their WhatsApp groups and raised a call with relevant managers to ensure she had alerted everyone. She was in a situation to handle the sickness line, update staff and handle patients in reception. Agne even parked her car in the bus stop next to Rivergate as she was jammed in traffic due to the flood and walked to the office. Anna said: “Agne went above and beyond to ensure colleagues and patients where looked after at this difficult time.”
David Mcpherson, Systems Implementation Manager, St Ives
David was nominated by Rachel Kremer after the Community Phlebotomy Service swapped over to using the new Malinko rostering system. Rachel said: “David has been there to assist the service every step of the way. Though what has really stood out is on the few days either side of the 'go live' date when David listened to our every concern and issue by all members of the team. Some of which happened one after another. Throughout all this time he continued to listen, remained pleasant and approachable. He has facilitated in making the swap over as easy as possible.”
Judy Wildman, Phlebotomy Administrator, Phlebotomy Service, Luton Treatment Centre
Judy was nominated by Rachel Kremer after the new Malinko rostering system was introduced. Rachel said: "Judy has embraced the change to this system and adapted extremely well and quickly. She has been proactive in the use of the system and assisting other team members with it. She is a credit to the service.”
Jan Smith and Rebecca Keates, Reception Administrators, 0-19 Team, Oak Tree Centre, Huntingdon
Danielle Black nominated both Jan and Rebecca for always aiming to support their teams to achieve outstanding care for their service users. Danielle said: “I feel Rebecca and Jan routinely go above and beyond the expectation of their role to meet the needs of all staff and service users. Both Jan and Rebecca offer service with a smile and despite the demands of their role and the challenges this brings at times. I consistently observe the way that service users are welcomed to the Oak tree Centre and what a positive difference this makes to their experience of attending their appointments with CCS services. It could be easy to underestimate how essential it is to have the right people employed to be a receptionist, but I have to say without their admirable customer service skills the Oak Tree Centre would not be the same place to work or the same place to visit as a service user without them.
“I feel very privileged to see how these ladies work as a team day to day and would like to congratulate them and thank them for being such valued employees for CCS and for always being such great team members. Thank you to you both and to the extended team for providing such an outstanding service.”
Laura Cornwell, Community Nursery Nurse, New Horsefair Clinic, Wisbech
Laura was nominated by Sahar Nashir who said: “I have worked with Laura on a few occasions, mostly joint visits/sessions, and I have always been met with a friendly, knowledgeable and helpful approach. She works diligently to support the child and each family member. She works with a flexible approach and always shares ideas or gives our team information which really supports towards our therapy.
“Whilst working with children or meeting new parents, they've mentioned to me that they had worked with her and wanted to pass feedback but didn't know how to! They discuss how supportive and passionate she is about helping their child in their early developmental stages. I most recently met a parent who was feeling quite stressed and anxious but quickly felt very much at ease by Laura's approach. Thank you for all that you do!”
Well done to everyone who was nominated this month!
