November Winner 2021 - Michaela Langford, Speech and Language Therapist, Cambridgeshire

by Kirstie Flack | Nov 25, 2021

This award is an opportunity for patients, families, visitors and Trust colleagues to say ‘thank you – you made a difference’ to a member of staff or a team for anything (however small!) that helped make their experience of our services better.

Our Winner for November 2021 is:

Michaela Langford, Speech and Language Therapist, Cambridgeshire

Michaela was nominated by Lynne Millard-King after receiving positive comments about her diligence and interaction with families. Michaela received the following feedback from the father of a child she has been working with:

“Dear Michaela, following our final session with you last week, I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for all that you have done for our son over recent months. Your work with him has been transformative for his speech and it has been remarkable to see him improve so rapidly and with such confidence.

“Your approach to speech therapy and your style of engagement has meant that he has thoroughly enjoyed every session and has never seemed at all self-conscious about his speech or reluctant to engage (quite the contrary, in fact). That you have achieved this in an entirely virtual setting makes it even more impressive. I know that he will miss his regular sessions with you. Thanks again and all best wishes for the future.”

Wonderful feedback Michaela, well done!

Other nominations this month included:

Louise Geal, Clinical Systems Analyst/Trainer

Louise was nominated by Samantha Parkin for her work with the team to update over 200 letter templates, 3 SystmOne templates to optimise use and then went back through them all when small changes were requested by teams.  Samantha said: “Louise has generally been so available throughout this very long process, we cannot thank her enough.”

Ruth Mclaren, Anna Bondare, Louise Geal, Faye Dunning and Richard Moore, Clinical Systems

Lynne Millard-King nominated Ruth, Anna, Louise, Faye and Richard as they are so responsive to her requests and are fantastic at their job. Lynne said: “Their support to clinicians is invaluable and I want them to know how much we appreciate them.”

Sharon Boddington, Recruitment Co-ordinator, St Ives

Sara Katsukunya nominated Sharon as she had the pleasure of working with her for a few years and was continually impressed with her work. Sara said: “I was very sad when Sharon left the Trust last year, but beyond thrilled when she returned to the recruitment team earlier this year.

“Sharon goes above and beyond in her role and crucially she does what she says she will do. We have recruited lots of new staff into the Emotional Health and Wellbeing Service, and when Sharon is involved, the process is so smooth. She works very hard at supporting new starters with their paperwork and needs, prior to their first day and we get excellent feedback about her. She is wonderful for the outwards reputation of the Trust for new staff and goes out of her way to fix difficulties and find solutions as they inevitably arise. Sharon keeps us updated and has such a positive outlook. She never needs ‘chasing.’

“She is kind, caring and thoughtful. Sharon thinks ahead to avoid potential bumps in the road and is incredibly generous with her time and her ability to help. All in all, she is an absolute pleasure to work with and I hope she stays with the Trust as she is a real asset. Thank you, Sharon, from all of us in the EHWS.”

Well done to everyone who was nominated this month, fantastic nominations!
