Shine a Light Award Winner - October 2013

Sharon Hughes Shine a Light WinnerShine a Light Award Winner – October 2013

Sharon Hughes, Team Administrator, Peterborough Community Rehabilitation

Sharon has made a real difference to the successful roll out of SystmOne to the Peterborough Community Rehab team. She is the only team administrator for a team of approx. 35 staff, and along with her own day to day activities she has taken it upon herself to learn the system to a level that the S1 project team would not usually expect.

This project was particularly complex, due to the many processes to establish in SystmOne and Sharon took it upon herself to learn all of the processes, not only her own administrative processes but also the clinical processes to help support her team during the difficult transition from paper notes to electronic. She is inundated daily with queries and often answers these queries herself even though she is an extremely busy person, and could easily direct them back to the project team to answer.,

On her own initiative Sharon has set up weekly S1 clinics to enable her team to highlight any ongoing S1 issues, which, if she is unable to help with she forwards to the project team. She has become a SystmOne champion without being approached to do so, and really have been key in the successful implementation of the system to this team, which is reflected in the quality of the data going onto the system.

Sharon is a joy to work with on this project and always faces any challenge head on with a smile. The S1 Implementation team would like to say thank you for all her help and support in the delivery of this roll out and I am sure her own team appreciate her effort more so. Sharon truly reflects exactly the kind of person the NHS are lucky to have working for them.

Congratulations to Sharon!

Other nominations included:

Mahmood Shah, Senior, Drug Worker, Shared Care Drug Service, Luton

Mahmood was nominated by a patient for his positive advice on how to withdraw from the drugs he was on. Today because of his advice, this patient and his family are together.

Naveen Sreekumari, Physiotherapist, MSK Physiotherapy Oundle Surgery

Naveen was commended by a patient for the thorough investigation of their ailment and great explanation of what was causing their problem. A follow up was booked on the spot and his wife was invited along to help administer on-going support. A great result (less pain) after just one session. Naveen has a very personable delivery style.

Helen Lord, Health Care Visitor, Longstanton/Willingham surgery

Helen was nominated by a patient for being a rock that she could not do without. This patient had suffered with bad post-natal depression which Helen helped here with. She made extra calls and visits, offering insight and support all the way. She sent the patient for blood tests which uncovered a blood disorder.

She offered help in so many ways, has potentially saved her life with her advice on having a simple blood test. Her help and genuine care and support have been invaluable. She looks forward to their meetings and her son absolutely ADORES her. She is a miracle and I care for her deeply!

Joe Patman, Administrator, MSK Business Unit-Peterborough

Joe was nominated by his manager Sarah Saul for being a star! He worked in Peterborough Community Services and then transferred to the Trust 18 months ago. Joe was valiantly trying to carry out his job role via 2 computers both of which were really slow. He had requested for 2+ years to get better "tools" to perform his duties and this had not been carried out. This was immediately sorted and you would have thought we had given him the world not just what he required to work. He is reliable, flexible, adaptable, hard working, friendly, a team player, dedicated and above all patient and calm especially when there have been times of staff shortages. He works hard to support the clinical staff and is well respected within the team/locality.

Well done to everyone who was nominated this month.
