Paediatric epilepsy service

What we do

The paediatric epilepsy nursing (PEN) service supports effective diagnosis and care of children/young people with a diagnosis of epilepsy, avoiding unnecessary hospital admissions/attendances, from birth to transition to adult services.  The paediatric epilepsy nursing service is provided to children/young people who have an NHS Luton GP.

Referrals are accepted from community/hospital paediatricians, health professionals, education, social services staff. Re-referrals are accepted directly from parents/carers/young people who have previously accessed the service.

Patients Know Best (PKB)

The service is currently piloting use of an online platform called Patients Know Best, to see if it will help to improve the care you or your child receives, and whether it could reduce the likelihood of being admitted to hospital with a seizure.

If your child or young person is aged 0-18, with epilepsy, and registered with a Luton GP, we would love you to take part in this pilot project. To find out more - click here.
