If it is life threatening, call 999 for an ambulance. Remember that A&E is happy to see children for emergencies and will keep children separated from patients with coronavirus. If you are unsure when to call emergency services, please click here to read the latest guide for parents or carers.

The Safeguarding Children team safeguards and promotes the welfare of children and young people by providing advice, support, guidance and training for CCS NHS Trust staff. The team also provide Safeguarding Children Supervision for a number of teams across the Trust.

The Safeguarding Children service works closely with both statutory and voluntary agencies to address safeguarding and child protection issues. The team also develop and update policy and undertake a number of internal and multi-agency audits to ensure the health and welfare needs of all children are being met.

We recognise that significant pressure will be put on families through the COVID-19 pandemic. The change in routine, lack of school each day and the social isolation will be difficult for many children and parents/carers.

The services to support and safeguard children will continue to operate throughout the crisis. If you have concerns or worries about the wellbeing of children they should be raised in the normal way.

If you think you and your family might benefit from some support, you should ask a professional who you know. This could be your doctor, or a teacher at your child’s school. They can tell you more about Early Help.

You can also contact the Early Help Hub: or call: 01480 376 666 (office hours).
