This service is for children, young people, parent, carers and 'corporate parents' living in Cambridgeshire.

You can contact our service Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

We aim to respond to you within 48 hours.


If you have concerns regarding a child’s welfare please contact Cambridgeshire’s Children’s Social Care by calling 0345 045 5203 or use their online referral form.

For urgent enquiries outside of normal working hours please call the Cambridgeshire’s Children’s Social Care Emergency Duty Team on 01733 234724 or the police on 999.

Welcome to our service

Children in care

The Children in Care Health team (also known as the Looked After Children team) provide the statutory health assessments for children and young people who are in the care of the local authority (also known as County Council, Social Care, Corporate Parenting) to support their health and wellbeing. The team also provide medical advice for the Local Authority for adults seeking to become foster carers or special guardians.

Children being adopted

Our medical advisor for adoption provides advice to inform this process based on a review of all the information available. Appointments with prospective adopters are offered to discuss the child's health and the implications of this for them in the future. 

Professionals - guidance

Our role is to provide the statutory health assessments for Cambridgeshire Children in Care, Other Authorities Children in Care placed in Cambridgeshire and request them for Cambridgeshire Children in Care placed in other counties.

Referrals are only received from the local authority.
