Who we are

Our team is made up of a variety of NHS staff with specific training and qualifications to support the health needs of children, young people and families in the community.

In our teams we have Administrators, Assistant Practitioners, Health Visitors, Nursery Nurses, School Nurses, Staff Nurses, Students and Vision Screeners

Together we are able to offer a wide range of help advice and support for children and young people aged 0-19 years old.

 

What we do

We work with parents/carers to support parenting and build on family strengths.

This includes working with children and young people to support their development as they grow. Our support will continue as they reach milestones in their life such as starting school and transitioning to adulthood.

We provide all sorts of advice and guidance to help children and young people have the best start in life.

Antenatal Contact Video

A member of the health visiting team will usually meet you Antenatally from 28 weeks,10-14 days after the birth of your baby, when your baby is 6-8 weeks, when your baby is 9-12 months and when your baby is 2-2.5 years.

They can support with all sorts help and advice including:

  • infant feeding
  • introducing family foods and healthy eating
  • parenting support
  • child and Family health, minor illness
  • sleep and children's behaviour
  • immunisations
  • speech and play
  • toilet training
  • preventing accidents
  • childcare and early education
  • preparing your child for school
  • CONI, a programme of support for families before and after the birth of their new baby following the sudden death of an infant.
