June 2021 Winner - Nicky Minnett, Assistant Financial Accountant, Finance (Payroll), St Ives

by Kirstie Flack | Jul 09, 2021

This award is an opportunity for patients, families, visitors and Trust colleagues to say ‘thank you – you made a difference’ to a member of staff or a team for anything (however small!) that helped make their experience of our services better.

Our Winner for June 2021 is:

Nicky Minnett, Assistant Financial Accountant, Finance (Payroll), St Ives

Nicky was nominated by Wendy Simpson for always having such a cheery and friendly approach and nothing is ever too much trouble for her. She is a hive of information and always follows things through comprehensively until the objective has been achieved.

Wendy said: “The reason I am nominating Nicky for the Trust’s ‘Shine a Light’ Award is because she has, not just once but twice, come to the rescue in her role as Assistant Financial Accountant. I work full-time in my team leader role but wanted to do more to make a difference and offered my services with the Mass Vaccination Programme as a Band 5 and Band 6. I was given a bank contract but this eventually ended up with me having several incorrect bank contracts. Nicky was outstanding in getting this resolved despite many complications and frustrations in achieving this. She kept me updated with what she was doing and always checked in with me that what she had proposed had actually happened. To say I was relieved when this was eventually sorted was an understatement.

“I then encouraged my husband, who is a full-time Paramedic and like me wanted to do his bit in supporting the national drive to get everyone vaccinated, to join the CCS Mass Vaccs team. He has completed numerous shifts for CCS over and above his full-time hours, attending various bases as far as Lowestoft in Suffolk to achieve this goal. However, like me, he was unable to correlate his contract with payroll.

"Yet again, Nicky came to the rescue. She calmly and reassuringly spoke with me promising that she would resolve this issue in the same way that she had done so with my bank contracts. In summary, Nicky has been amazing and I just wanted to give credit where it is very much due. I am also aware that front line staff often receive praise and acknowledgement for the work that they do and felt that Nicky should also be recognised for being so diligent, conscientious, as well as thoughtful, friendly and caring. She is an absolute star and the finance team are very lucky to have her in their team!

What a lovely nomination, well done Nicky!

Other nominations this month included:

Katherine Pinnock, Rostering Administrator - Mass Vaccination Service

Katherine was nominated by Elizabeth Nyiga for being the person of the day, week, month and year 2021!  Elizabeth said: “I have worked in the Public Service for over 15 years and I have never encountered anyone like her. She is professional, very helpful, kind and in one word amazing. I think I'm not the only person who thinks this. I would love it if she was recognised for what she does. I would love to do this myself, however this is not possible. If I had my own business I would most definitely poach her! Thank you for taking my request into consideration.”

Mass Vaccination team

The team were nominated by a member of the public after they received their second vaccination and for providing a “very good service as usual.”

Jo Hale, Health Visitor - Windmill Annex, North Healthy Child Programme

Jo was nominated by Melanie Ramsbotham after Melanie was taken unwell at work and passed out whilst sharing an office with Jo. Melanie said: “Jo looked after me during this episode. Jo remained calm, being the only person present. She talked me through it and also took me to A&E to be checked over. I am very grateful for her looking after me in such a caring and professional manner when I really needed it. I was found to have an upper respiratory tract infection and was discharged home on rest and antibiotics, and it was a coughing episode which resulted in me being unconscious for a short period of time. Thank you Jo!”

Joanne Brooks, Named Professional Safeguarding Children - Cambridgeshire

Jo was nominated by Debbie Shulver for undertaking supervision with a health visitor and the outcome of that was her supporting the health visitor with the escalation of the concerns for a child and the case management of this.  Debbie said: “The case management significantly altered with Jo's advice, guidance and support to ensure that the child is now being safeguarded by all professionals more robustly. The health visitor acknowledged the excellent service she received and contacted the head of safeguarding to ensure that the learning she had gained was fed back and to praise the support from the safeguarding team.”

Our wonderful staff going above and beyond - well done to everyone who was nominated!
