February 2018 - Katy Goulding, Senior Physiotherapist, DynamicHealth, Ely

by Kirstie Flack | Mar 01, 2018
This award is an opportunity for patients, families, visitors and Trust colleagues to say ‘thank you – you made a difference’ to a member of staff or a team for anything (however small!) that helped make their experience of our services better.

The winner for February 2018 is:

Katy GouldingKaty Goulding, Senior Physiotherapist, DynamicHealth, Princess of Wales, Ely

Katy was nominated by Sarah Saul for taking the Quality Way concept one step further by making 'crib sheets' to answer all the questions with factual, easy read and evidence based answers to the superhero questions. This great resource will really help her busy colleagues to be able to read this "quick crib sheet guide' and to review all they need to know about the Quality Way linked to the MSK service. Katy's work has been shared and celebrated as part of the weekly Comms cascade awareness around the Quality Way and she has gone above and beyond her part time role as a physio in MSK.

Katy has used much of her own time and initiative to produce and complete this easy read guide. The guides are not only helping her colleagues, but have also been shared across Ambulatory Care division, as most of the evidence produced can be adapted to support other services as well. “Thank you Katy for taking the time to show and remind us all that Caring can come in many forms and you have shown great compassion to care for your colleagues, other services and ultimate our patients by helping all to read and understand and embed the principles of the Quality Way. Sarah Saul states: "Katy has worked tremendously hard within MSK in facilitating a session with the team leads on the Units KLOE for CQC, preparing an in-service training for session for the teams to prepare for CQC and working with each area on their preparedness and knowledge. She has been instrumental in staff engagement on CQC across the unit and has worked with Katrina the new team lead in Huntingdon to ensure readiness. Katy is a new member of staff having previously relocated from Liverpool where she was working within acute and is currently based in Ely. She is a tremendous asset to the unit and we are proud to call her one of our team."

Tracey Cooper Director of Ambulatory Care Services commented: “I was impressed by the straight forward approach Katy has taken to ensure her team and the wider DH service relate to the CQC domains and how they link directly to what each member of staff does every day. Katy's work is being shared across Ambulatory Care so others can use this approach in their teams- Extremely well done Katy.”

Many congratulations to Katy.

June Short, Practice Manager, Dental Healthcare Cambridgeshire
June was nominated by several of her work colleagues as below:

June is always going above and beyond in her role as Practice Manager, there is no single action, I just feel she deserves to be recognised for all her hard work, nothing is too much trouble and her door is always open. Even if she is snowed under she will always help her staff. Thank you June!
Amy Field

June is always supportive and approachable and makes time to talk through any worries or queries. She works hard and doesn't get enough recognition for her support throughout the 3 sites that she manages which is a constant juggling act. She never loses her compassion and her success is down to her quiet tenacity. A small gesture of this award would help her to know that all her hard work has not gone un-noticed.
Louise Ivins

June works extremely hard across 3 dental clinics however she is approachable and available to help any of the staff that need her advice. She is very supportive of the staff she manages and I feel that I can go to her with any concerns or problems that I may have. I wouldn't hesitate in going to June for help or advice and I know she would do her best to assist me. Even though she is very busy she always has time for other staff members and she will always help you out to the absolute best that she can. I feel that June does not get the recognition she deserves and that the 'Shine a Light Award' would go a long way towards showing how much she is valued and appreciated.
Monica LaMarre

I have now worked with June for 14 years during that time she has always given me support and encouraged me to achieve my best. She gives the service 110% She really deserves her hard work to be recognised
Debbie Avory

June is there all the time for everyone, when ever she is able and will always listen and give advice. She is an approachable and trustworthy manager and person. A hero of the Trust within the dental area, who does so much more than is ever credited for

June is there all the time for everyone. She fills in all the gaps. She does huge amounts of work behind the scenes which others take credit for. She is an unsung hero of the dental service.
