The winner for April is:Laura Kaye and Matthew

Laura Kaye, Speech and Language Therapist, Speech Therapy, Chesterton, Cambridge

Lynne Millard nominated Laura on behalf of the parent of a little boy she was working with, who sent a video of her son talking in his assembly; he had previously been unable to speak! The nomination reads: “Hi Laura, I hope you are well. William had a speaking part as a weatherman in his school assembly today; I took a video and wanted to send it for you to see. My son speaks so well, please watch it and know how eternally grateful we are to you. Thank you and best wishes.”

Congratulations to Laura, a worthy winner!

Other nominees were:

Helen Fallows, Specialist Safeguarding Nurse/CDOP Lead, Luton SG Children team
Helen was nominated by Caroline Halls for recently extending her duties from a CDOP nurse to a specialist SG nurse. She has fully embraced this new additional role, is extremely positive and supportive of colleagues and always willing to be flexible to meet the demands of the service which have recently been under pressure. She remains calm at all times. She is a pleasure to work with.

Nikki Bycroft, Admin Assistant (Finance), Finance
Nikki was nominated by Paul Spencer for performing an invaluable job in processing the Trust's P Forms to ensure they are received from managers and sent to Serco Payroll for processing. Nikki also coordinates the Trust's position structure on ESR and has expanded her knowledge through training and experience to be able to proactively offer more effective ways of working. She is currently using these skills to implement the rotational GPs position structure in ESR. She performs a role that only gets noticed when things aren't be processed well and its a testament to her caring, methodical hard work that the system of processing works so efficiently and effectively. Nikki is a very quiet person in the team, but she performs a profound role that significantly improves the processes of the Finance team and the wider Trust. Her continued hard work, cheerful attitude and the silent role she performs makes a huge difference to the Trust.

Patricia Jordan, Health Care Support Worker, Children's Continuing Care Team, Huntingdon
Patricia was nominated by Siobhan Weaver who said: “Patricia is a person I aspired to be, because she role modelled the care and compassion at the standard that I have always wanted to emulate. Patricia's knowledge, care and pragmatic view of her support work continues to be a source of learning and development for me. Patricia has supported and counselled me often to ensure that the needs of the child and family are at the centre of the care we provide. Patricia is a leader within our service and the families that use our service have benefitted greatly from her skills. Patricia has been caring and compassionate but also courageous in her approach; to identify and then work with each individual to promote the best standards of care. Patricia is funny, tenacious and brings an expertise to junior members of our team that will be very hard to replace. Feedback from children and families has been consistently excellent and the news of her retirement has been greeted with dismay, but also best wishes and thanks for everything that she has done.”

Amundeep Jandu, Trudy Stocker, Virginia Godwin, Dentist and Dental Nurses, Peterborough Dental Access Centre
Amundeep, Trudy and Virginia were commended by Julia Hallam-Seagrave for staying with an elderly gentleman who had fallen over near the Dental Access Centre; he was a member of the public not a patient of the service. He was complaining of shoulder pain and had had a heart attack 4 weeks ago. An ambulance was called and the people involved fetched a blanket to keep him warm and comfortable. They stayed with him for over 2½ hours until a PCSO attended, they used the dental access wheelchair to get him into the PCSO car. He was taken to hospital where it was found he had a broken collarbone and dislocated shoulder, no ambulance attended.  Well done to the team for their care shown to this gentleman.

Sarah Ablett, Administrator, Health Visiting Team South City
Sarah was nominated by Marian Biggs as her presence in the office is one of smiling kindness and generosity of spirit, time and for her superb administrative skills. She accepts their incessant interruptions for assistance with I.T. trivia with grace and has the patience worthy of a saint. Saint Sarah? Indeed! The entire South City Health Visiting team put Sarah through for this nomination. We love you, Sarah! Thank you!

Community Nursing Team, Bevan Cluster, Luton Adult Community Services
Joanne Shields, Lynn Pantling, Michelle Sambrook,, Emily Otoma, Christine Harris, Leticia Amegashie, Sharon Amos, Nasima Begum,  Lisa Bond, Katriona Close, Chloe Denton, Megan Fadayiro, Pamela Beevor, Farah Ali, Marlene Greaves, Rachel Walsh and Ann Watkin).

Lynn Pantling nominated the Community Nursing team within the Bevan cluster at Luton Adult Community Services for their continued hard work, enthusiasm and passion for nursing and who consistently go over and above for their patients to ensure they receive first class, patient centred care. This was evidenced by extremely positive feedback received from relatives of two patients who the team have cared for recently who were at the end of their lives.

The collective team effort and support received from colleagues within the team also helps facilitate Lynn’s role. Each and every member is willing to help out when finding others within the team (and also within other clusters) in need of help and support. This is always done willingly and without complaint - a true team spirit. A wonderful team who promote the values and behaviours of the Trust and who give such amazing nursing care to their patients.

Congratulations to everyone nominated this month.
