Vanessa Callaghan, Dental Receptionist, Brookfields Health Centre - November 2016

by Kirstie Flack | Jan 06, 2017
Vanessa was nominated twice for this month’s awards.  Her manager Maria Ross-Russell nominated Vanessa for her caring and supportive response when contacted by the deaf wife of a 72-year-old patient. The gentleman patient is a carer for the wife who called. Her husband was unresponsive and Vanessa talked her through calling 999 and found a solution to her concerns that she would not hear the ambulance when it arrived. The gentleman was subsequently admitted to hospital and the wife called us back to express her gratitude. She would not have called the ambulance without Vanessa's help.

The second nomination was from the mother of a young patient.  She wrote on her nomination that:  “her daughter was in a real state as her 18 month old son had bashed his teeth and was pouring blood. Vanessa took time to console her daughter and reassure her.  When the 18 month old was crying during the examination her daughter left the room and the receptionist gave her a hug and calmed her down. The parent said that she is an absolutely fantastic lady and I am very grateful to her.”

Congratulations to Vanessa!

Also nominated this month:

Holly Fountain, HV/CPT, Luton Children and Adults Community Unit who was nominated by Linda Sharkey on behalf of Stephanie Cash, Flying Start Manager.

Holly was asked to attend Lewisham with the Flying Start Manager to promote 'Five to Thrive' - the commendation below from Lewisham and an email from Stephanie Cash Flying Start Manager applauded her enthusiasm and commitment to supporting the development of children identifying her as an exemplary member of the Trust.

“Steph and Holly, just to say a very big 'thank you' to you both for coming to our event in (London Borough of) Lewisham last week. I had a long talk with Beulah our HV Service Manager afterwards, and she is now fully on board - this is completely down to your talk and particularly you Holly. Can't thank you enough - this has made such a difference to our chances of success.” Regards Val Pope, Executive Manager, Pre-school Learning Alliance Lewisham Concept House, London.

Congratulations to everyone nominated this month.
