Beverley Rogers, HCP Admin Assistant, Health Visiting Team, King's Lynn - April 2016

by Kirstie Flack | Apr 27, 2016

This award is an opportunity for patients, families, visitors and Trust colleagues to say ‘thank you – you made a difference’ to a member of staff or a team for anything (however small!) that helped make their experience of our services better.

Beverley Rogers Shine a Light WinnerThe winner for April is:

Beverley Rogers, HCP Admin Assistant, Health Visiting Team, Vancouver House, King's Lynn
Beverley was nominated by Julie Williamson for always working above and beyond her duties as a HCP Admin Assistant. She is extremely efficient, uses her own initiative and as a team they would be lost without her. All the HCP’s in this team are fantastic, but Beverley goes above and beyond. She is always completely work focussed. If you ask her to do something, you can trust that it always gets sorted. She has had to deal with a lot of change moving Trusts and working in an open plan office, which has been difficult for her as she has hearing difficulties. She is so willing to help, organises them all (in a good way!) and is a great asset to the team.

Congratulations to Beverley.

Other nominations this month were:

Nicola Srahan, School Based Immunisation Lead, Children and Young People’s Services
Nicky initially started with the HPV team as a band 5 immunisation nurse, when the previous lead left Nicky applied and was successful in obtaining the band 6 lead post.

Sue Johnson nominated Nicky for successfully leading the immunisation team through many changes, including the addition of other immunisations now given in schools. Last year Nicky worked with corporate colleagues on a bid document and procurement process that saw CCS obtaining Suffolk, Norfolk and Peterborough school immunisation teams become part of CCS. She was directly involved in the TUPE process of those staff, recruitment of further staff and has continued to lead the service.

Recently she successfully applied for the band 7 lead post for school based immunisations. Nicky's leadership is instrumental in the success of the service she leads, they continue to deliver a high quality service and many young people who may have missed immunisations when offered in a different location are now able to receive these essential immunisations. Well done Nicky.

Laura Day and Niamh Robinson, ESR Support Team, Training and Education Department
Sarah Priestley nominated Niamh Robinson and Laura Day of the Training and Education team for working tirelessly to assist the IG Team with ensuring that the Trust reaches 95% Information Governance Training compliance before the close of the financial year, despite this only being one of many training programmes they are required to manage.

This involved the generation and manipulation of a number of reports on a weekly basis, over the course of several months as well as supporting the increase in number of enquiries generated by this push for compliance. This meant that the IG team were able to accurately advise service directors on their team’s training compliance, and with the ESR team’s support, were able to submit the Trust’s IG toolkit with the evidence from their reporting.

Trudy Stocker, Siobhan Casey and Redouane Abou-Hilal, Dental Nurses and Dentist, Peterborough Dental Access Centre
The team were nominated by Julia Hallam-Seagrave as after returning to the clinic after 5pm she found a waiting room full of patients and a constantly ringing telephone. During the afternoon the number of extra patients needing to be seen by the team had increased so that the clinic had a number of “sit and “wait” patients as well as the pre booked patients.

Julia witnessed the team really work together to treat the patients efficiently but also with empathy.  The way the team helped each other out to get through the volume of patients was a fantastic example of great teamwork.

Jennifer Deacon, Linda Bedrikovs, Jo Sharman (CC), Claire Adams and Nadine Rider, Early Support team, Cambridge, Huntingdon and East Cambs and Fenland
Claire Adams nominated the Early Support team for being a dynamic and innovative team of co-ordinators and administrator working with families and children to support their communication needs.  They were extremely fortunate to have been led by a well respected and forward thinking manager Wendy Turner who has now retired.  As a result the whole team has undergone significant changes but has risen to the challenge in these changing times and have all been positive.

The team have also worked extremely hard due to an employee off on long term sick; covering all of the East Cambs and Fenland workload, which has resulted in a large impact on their our own workloads.  Julia feels they all deserve this award, working so hard and to deadline which they have all achieved.  Members of the team regularly receive compliments and thanks from families and staff who have valued their input and hard work over these past few months.

Carolyn Caine, Team Leader, Health Visiting – Lawson Road, Norwich
Carolyn was nominated by Helen Watson on behave of the team for always being professional and supportive. She constantly encourages her staff. She is empathetic and compassionate and values those she managers.  She sees the potential in her staff and encourages them to be the best they can and treats everybody the same no matter what level they are.

Carolyn is “human” and doesn’t hide by authority; she takes time to listen to staff and is a valued and well respected team leader. She has the drive to move everything forward giving them the enthusiasm to change and do things differently.  She encourages their ownership of practice and values them as practitioners.  She has been Helen’s team leader in two different bases; Helen moved base so that she would still be her line manager. Carolyn has an absolute respect for her staff and there autonomy to make decisions, this is perfectly balanced against her striving for a service that delivers excellence to the families in her care.

Sue Marshall, Key Worker, Luton Drug Service
Sue was nominated by one of her patients for being the best keyworker he has ever had. When he met Sue many years ago he had seen many different key workers collecting script after script.  Sue has done a lot of mapping with him and counselling and has given him hope.

He had been on drugs for 20 or more years then eventually Sue made many arrangements to get him into a rehab and to obtain funding which was very hard.  He went into rehab for 3 months suffering many mental health problems (psychosis, voices, basically paranoid schizophrenic).  Now when he reflects back he realises he has been through hell and back and thank God he is now back in the real world.  Sue had fought hard and put her heart into helping him, she is a star.

Well done to everyone who was nominated this month!
