Pauline Glass- Shine a Light Winner June 2015

by Kirstie Flack | Jul 02, 2015

This award is an opportunity for patients, families, visitors and Trust colleagues to say ‘thank you – you made a difference’ to a member of staff or a team for anything (however small!) that helped make their experience of our services better.

The winner for June 2015 is: Pauline Glass Shine a Light Winner

Pauline Glass, Senior Drug Worker, Luton Drug Service

Pauline was nominated by her colleague Mahmood Shah for her initiation and continued amazing work with the Service User Involvement group ‘GOAL’ (Going onto another Level). She has persevered, worked hard and continues to do so with this outstanding initiative – which has gone from strength to strength. The clients who are involved in GOAL have been on BBC 3 Counties Radio; done presentations for the Social care Teams (in Luton), participated in service evolution and development and attend the LDAP (Luton, Drug and Alcohol Partnership) meetings.

Pauline has done this whilst doing all of her other daily duties. Holding a case load (of over 50 clients), working with some of the most vulnerable and marginalised members of our community. She has shown patience, enthusiasm and perseverance, starting the initiative from its initial creation to its current rising status with in Luton, working to deadlines, short time frames and her own high pressure daily duties.

Pauline is an integral part of Luton Drug Services in her capacity as a Senior Drug Worker. She is valued by both patients and her colleagues alike. She is compassionate and understanding and her clients / patients have the utmost respect for her as do her colleagues. She is an exemplary member of staff – who has worked extremely hard through these ‘turbulent’ and unknown times – as the service is going through a transformation process, but she has continued to perform at her usual high level of professionalism. Creating, shaping and presenting GOAL to the wider professional community of Luton, giving the service users the voice that they need and deserve.

Mahmood said: “It is a privilege to working alongside Pauline. She is full of energy, passion and enthusiasm. All the while having the clients / patients welfare as her number one aim and target.”

Well done to Pauline.

The second nomination this month was:

Patricia Gooderham, Sexual and Reproductive Health Nurse, Suffolk iCaSH Sexual and Reproductive Health Service

Patricia was nominated by Nicky Ross for being a highly respected member of the iCaSH Service who has worked for the service for over 30 years.

She is always willing to go out of her way for both colleagues and clients. She is professional at all times, never complains and is a wonderful role model for the whole team.

Well done to you all!
