Shine a Light Winner - May 2015

by Kirstie Flack | May 27, 2015
This award is an opportunity for patients, families, visitors and Trust colleagues to say ‘thank you – you made a difference’ to a member of staff or a team for anything (however small!) that helped make their experience of our services better.

The Luton Health Visitor, Community Practice Teachers

The team were nominated by Linda Sharkey following discussions with students and recently qualified HVs about how much they have appreciated and applauded the quality of support from the Luton HV CPTs.

The team were included in a recent 'team of the year' award but from a local perspective have clearly demonstrated that their care, compassion and dedication to supporting students and colleagues has driven improvements in care for Luton families. New staff coming from other Trusts have commented that the quality of CPT is higher in Luton than their own experience in training.

Well done to all of the team.

Other nominations this month were:

Sarah Munroe, Lauren Bull, Rebecca Harvey and Lauren Yearwood, Nurse Specialist and Staff Nurses, Adult Community, Luton

Sarah was asked as a specialist nurse to lead a small team to participate in the University of Bedfordshire Recruitment Fair. Sarah said in feedback to Linda Sharkey that Lauren Bull, Rebecca Harvey and Lauren Yearwood were absolutely superb. Many of the Student Nurses who came to the stand to speak afterwards said they had not considered Community Nursing before, meeting the nurses and hearing the presentation they gave, but were inspired to do so afterwards. Sarah has not led this work before but stepped in to provide senior leadership and her specialist perspective on the range of roles in the community that are possible for nurses across their careers.

Sue Money, Administrator, Child and Family, Health Visiting Service, Ely

Hilda Beauchamp nominated Sue for being a wonderful administrator who exemplifies the 6Cs in the efficient and effective work she conducts for the health visiting team: care and compassion for colleagues and families; excellence and competence in all her communication demonstrating courage to challenge change that would affect the quality of care families receive and showing loyalty and commitment to a team who are currently very understaffed and relatively new to the organisation. She is the glue that holds us all together and we would like her contribution to be acknowledged.

Lisa Blackwell & Hayley Williams, Project Management Team, Luton Adults/Childrens Unit

Lisa and Hayley were nominated by Linda Sharkey for going the extra mile in all of the projects they support across the adult and children’s teams. Specifically this year they have supported the successful achievement of 100% CQUIN outcomes through their attention to detail and their supportive approach to the clinical teams. They have been highly commended by the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) for their professional approach over the last 2 years and have stepped into supporting many projects to release time to care.

Well done to you all!
