Shine a Light Award Winner - April 2015

by Kirstie Flack | Apr 29, 2015

This award is an opportunity for patients, families, visitors and Trust colleagues to say ‘thank you – you made a difference’ to a member of staff or a team for anything (however small!) that helped make their experience of our services better.

Liz Sloman Shine a Light WinnerShine a Liz Sloman, Play Specialist, Holly Ward, Hinchingbrooke Hospital

Liz was nominated by Nicole Banyard for being the link person for her daughter's monthly blood tests. She made a very difficult process (blood tests are traumatic for a four-year-old!) run so smoothly for her family. From arranging appointments, always ringing when she says she will, to preparing her daughter for the event. Being there for every test to distract her daughter with her favourite things during the process and rewarding her afterwards. Liz has been an absolutely invaluable support. She is always cheerful, helpful, supportive, professional and efficient.

Well done to Liz!

Other nominations this month were:

Julian Fraser, Dentist, Church Mews, Wisbech

Julian was nominated by one of his patients as he “could not praise him and the surgery enough.” .As a person who over the years had developed a fear of dentists, Julian and his staff put him at ease with their confident, professional and caring manner. He would recommend this dental practice to anyone. They give you a personal service rarely found these days, thoroughly lovely people. Brilliant!

Diane Denison, Community phlebotomist, Luton Community phlebotomist

Diane was nominated by Rachel Kremer and Anne Sharpe for positive feedback they had received from Stuart Webb, Nurse Specialist for Learning Disabilities after going out to take a blood test.  The patient was more co-operative in terms of allowing Michelle and the nurse to get close to him and he actually sat down with Michelle almost in the position to proceed. Diane was really nice and spoke well to the patient. Her efforts were appreciated by the service user’s parents.

Well done to you all!
