Winner - August 2014

by Kirstie Flack | Aug 28, 2014

This award is an opportunity for patients, families, visitors and Trust colleagues to say ‘thank you – you made a difference’ to a member of staff or a team for anything (however small!) that helped make their experience of our services better.

Shine a Light Award Winner – August 2014

Poppy Reynolds, Nurse Manager and Katie Joy-Good, Administration Lead for Peterborough Sexual Health Services

Poppy and Katie were nominated by Anne Foley, for working tirelessly with the project team to transfer GUM and HIV services from Peterborough Hospital to CCS. This was particularly striking as their manager; Jo Radnor was on unplanned leave at a critical time in the project. They took greater responsibility than they would have done to ensure that services and staff transferred with the support necessary, ensuring new staff were trained on systems and that patients continued to receive the services.

Well done to Poppy and Katie

Other nominations for August include:

Tamsin Ford/Rapid Response Team Wisbech, Community Matron, New Horsefair Clinic, Wisbech

Tamsin was nominated by the wife of one of her patients.  The nominated read “The rapid response team have made a big difference to my husband who has dementia and I care for him full time. He had deteriorated and things had become very difficult.

“The GP asked the rapid response team to come out; the matron and the OT visited the next day and assessed my husband. They ordered equipment to help with moving and handling, spoke with social services for me about an increase in the care provided, got a hospital bed which we really needed as my husband was slipping out of his bed and at risk of falling. They also referred to other people such as a speech and language therapist, Crossroads and Healthy Homes and have really helped support us both through a crisis. We now are a lot better supported and life is easier to manage.”

Susan Reeman, Staff Nurse, Cambridge

Sue was nominated by her colleague Georgina Guest for being a real asset to the team. She is hard working and has shown such passion and empathy within her role to clients, who she works above and beyond for. She has recently had a bereavement in the family and came back to the team committing to her daily work. She often has cards from clients thanking her for the support she has given and that this has made a massive change to there family. Families often ring up requesting for her support. She is due to retire next year and I feel this would be a great send off as over the years I feel her hard work has been over looked. Other team members are in full support for this nomination as well.

Lisa Pitney Baxter, Administrative Lead, Peterborough MSK Service

Lisa was nominated by Sarah Saul, for being an extremely dedicated member of staff. She has a can do attitude, she is an excellent performance manager within the locality, she runs with projects and programmes with vigour and determination and is leading across our MSK service in electronic patient records and data cleansing. She was instrumental in cross unit training on SystmOne, choose and book and also in driving change, transformation and also housekeeping of data. She has put herself forwards to be the MSK lead in a recent SystmOne project led by Jane Crawford-White. She also attended the regional choose and book group which is discussing changes to this system from next year.

She works intensively with the team and clinical lead in Peterborough in making sure that the whole team is empowered, knows the message and vision and works to create a work ethos of collective leadership. The team won the Chairman’s award last year and it was absolutely deserved. She works tirelessly to support staff and this was shown recently with a violent patient at a health centre. She runs a "tight ship" - many units both inside MSK services and across CCS could learn from her "no nonsense, practical and dogged approach" to change, her attitude that we are all here for the patient with longer opening hours, patients at the centre, liaison with GP's, acute hospitals and the primary care facilitator within the CCG to improve processes. She looks for the need to change reflects constantly on ways of working and how things can be better for our patients and I support this nomination unreservedly. The asset she provides to the team and the unit is remarkable.

Tanya Phillips, Management Accountant, Corporate Team

Tanya was nominated by Andrew Moore for being key in resolving the Dell Ltd account being 'on stop' by discussing and chasing the required approvals to make payment for outstanding invoices. This meant that outstanding orders could be processed and fulfilled for end users helping the Serco ASP Procurement department maintain service quality and turnaround time. Also Tanya is always responsive to any questions I have and provides comprehensive and knowledgeable answers.

Well done to everyone!
