This award is an opportunity for patients, families, visitors and Trust colleagues to say ‘thank you – you made a difference’ to a member of staff or a team for anything (however small!) that helped make their experience of our services better.
Shine a Light Award Winner – February 2014
Dr Lynne Gilbert and Mrs Vizminda Faustino, Laurels Family Planning Clinic, Cambridge
Dr Lynne Gilbert and Mrs Vizminda Faustino, health care assistant at the Laurels family planning clinic were nominated by one of their clients for being extremely professional and competent, which resulted in her feeling comfortable and at ease with the procedure that took place.
The lady receiving care felt that she received excellent care, that her dignity was protected in every way and that Lynne and Vizminda reassured her and displayed empathy throughout, answering all her worries and displaying ‘great team work’.
Congratulations to the Dr Lynne Gilbert and Mrs Vizminda Faustino.
Other nominations included:
Tracey Hodge, Community Nursery Nurse – Health Visitor, Children’s Services/East Barnwell Health Centre
Tracey was nominated by Katy Moore, health visitor, for being the backbone of the East Barnwell health visiting team for 4½ years. She is well respected by her colleagues and patients alike. She always takes time to listen to the families she works with and goes the extra mile to ensure they have the advice and support they require, even if this means working extra hours to achieve this.
Tracey is always smiling and nothing is too much trouble for her, she supports health and social care colleagues and students and has a wealth of knowledge. Remarkably Tracey has not had a single day of sickness in the 4½ years she has worked in the team, and despite having two children she has not taken any carers leave either. This is extremely rare and reflects Tracey's commitment to her work, for this, her hard work and caring attitude.
Judith Williams, Manager COPD team, Respiratory Nurse, Peterborough
Judith was nominated by the wife of one of her patients for being a lifeline to them and they would be lost without her. She is sure that without her help her husband would have died as their doctors surgery would not listen to them. She helped diagnose COPD and to get him the help he desperately needed.
Ipswich Suffolk Sexual Health Team, Various Drs/Nurses/HCAS/Admin, Department of Sexual Health (Ipswich)
Val Cooke, IHT GUM lead, nominated the staff in the Ipswich hospital sexual health team. The conditions in this department have been very difficult with great reduction in space to see patients. Despite all this the team have continued to offer a well motivated positive service and continue to give an excellent standard of care.
