Young Voices of LutonYVoL - Logo

Who are the Young Voices of Luton?

We are a group of unique young people from Luton, and we all have special educational needs and disabilities.  We joined this group because we want to make a positive impact on the future of young people like us.  This is the first video we ever created, have a look and you will get to know a bit more about the group and each one of us too.

How will we impact the future?
By being involved in meetings and group sessions where ideas are being discussed we become part of the change and that's how we help improve the health services that we use.

Our main aim overall is that we want our voices to be heard because together we will make a difference

What projects have we been involved in?
The projects sometimes have fancy titles, but we talk about what it means so that we all understand, and we all have a chance to get involved. Some of the projects we have worked on are:

Young Voices of Luton: We coproduced this Logo
So, this was our very first project and we chose the name of the group, co-produced the logo, chose the colours and we all decided what our group values would be.

Post Diagnosis Resource project:
This is a big project and so far, we have discussed questions we would like answered about our neurodiversity, we each have different conditions including ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, Dispraxia  to mention a few.  This is going to be part of a video of lots of questions that are going to be answered by doctors so anyone can watch the video and learn more about their condition.
Transistions Project

Transitions:
We talked about how it felt for some of us when we had to leave children's services and what could have made the experience better for us.  Some of our members are still with Children's Services so the discussion helped them to think about the questions they wanted to ask .  We are going to help design how it should work.

Chat Health:
We have helped the communications team to change the design of posters and videos that are used to promote the ChatHealth Service.  One of our members Courtney was part of the group whose feedback led to the all the marketing material being redesigned by young people!

Where do we do meet?

Our story is unique, because we have never actually met in person since we started the group in July 2020 because of lock-down restrictions.  This hasn't stopped us; it's actually made it easier to meet up and we have done some really good work together.  We have a virtual meeting once every two weeks on a Friday afternoon, after school and college, some of us join on our computers, laptops and i-pad you can even join on your mobile.
