Bedfordshire and Luton Nutrition and Dietetics Service
Our Community Nutrition and Dietetics Service assesses and provides practical evidenced based dietary advice to help people understand the impact of diet on their health and well-being, helping people live longer, healthier lives.
Depending on need, clients are seen in home visits, nursing home or outpatient clinic settings.
Community dietitians see patients in a variety of different settings including community bedded units, nursing and residential homes, clinics, group sessions and patient’s own homes. We can provide training, for health and community-based professionals and the general public.
Some of the reasons you may be referred to our team are:
- malnutrition
- dietary advice for gut problems such as constipation, irritable bowel syndrome
- therapeutic diets such as gluten-free
- nutritional deficiencies
- allergies and intolerances (excluding multiple or complex allergy)
- obesity (limited to a co-morbidity requiring dietary treatment)
- cardiovascular disease
- diabetes with controlled glucose or sugar levels
- disordered eating
- home enteral tube feeding
Referrals
We will accept referrals from:
- GPs
- community services
- health visitors
- community medical officers
- consultant and dental practitioners
Patients can be referred for individual therapeutic dietetic support. The majority of referrals are for individuals to receive specialist therapeutic advice.
We do not accept self-referrals.
