Genetics professionals from The Kennedy Galton Centre visit once every month, 9.30-12.30 on a Tuesday morning.
Dietetics
Outreach dietitians from Bedford Hospital visit every few months, and work closely with the speech and language therapy teams.
Wheelchair services
Bedfordshire and Luton wheelchair services are based at Steppingley Hospital and visit the CDC as necessary.
Orthopaedics
Mr Edge, a visiting surgeon from Bedford Hopsital, holds a clinic every two months for children with very complex needs. This is a multidisciplinary clinic with the paediatrician and physiotherapist also in attendance.
Orthotics
Orthotic services provide prescription insoles, braces, splints, callipers, footwear, spinal jackets and helmets which help people recover from or avoid injury, or live with lifelong conditions. This clinic is held every week on a Tuesday, held jointly with the physiotherapists.
Continence (bowel clinic)
Special needs continence clinic and nurse led bowel clinic is held every Tuesday and Friday. Other dates are brought in as needed. See our continence service page for more information.
Neurologists
Outreach from Addenbrookes Hospital, Dr Krishna Kumar, happens all day once every three months.
Social worker
A social worker attends the clinic from Bedford Borough Council, every Monday. They offer advice to families and professionals, providing a link between the CDC and social workers within the community. If you would like to meet with the social worker please leave a message at the CDC and you will be contacted as soon as possible.
